A warm welcome to The Imperial Tenby Hotel...

Tenby is a special town, big enough for a good range of things to do and a great choice of bars and restaurants, but small enough to be charming and intimate.

Built into the old town walls, the Imperial has recently undergone a large refurbishment giving it a beautiful new restaurant and lounge with stunning views across the beach and sea to St Catherine’s Fort.

If an early evening drink takes your fancy, our patio terrace will take some beating, set directly above the beach and sea, and it gets the late evening sun right until it sets in the west – perfect after a busy day’s sightseeing. The refurbishment means we now offer some stunning Premier and Superior rooms, for special breaks.

Local Insight

13 years ago I moved here to work here for a month and I am still here! I think the main pull for me is the sea and the beaches, here in Tenby and nearby at Saundersfoot, Stepaside and Amroth. In my opinion, they are some of the best in the UK. I never tire of the boat trip across to Caldey Island, home to the monks, or a trip out seal spotting. A visit to the beautiful St David’s Cathedral still inspires me.

The tranquillity of Colby Woodland Gardens or the grander Botanical Gardens of Wales are both well worth a visit.

Stunned

I have just arrived home and re-read customer comments. I cannot believe that my parents and I have just stayed at the same place! My parents room was ok - it had been refurbished. My room on the other hand left much to be desired. As a single person, paying single supplement I was expecting more however, I got room 34 complete with undulating floor and mould! Food and service was not of a standard that I found acceptable and the entertainment was even worse (retirement?). Not to be recommended.

Christmas Break

We stayed at the Imperial with friends over the Christmas period. The hotel was good, room was very clean and well presented and all of the staff were excellent. The food, there was more than you could eat, was of a top quality, very well presented, and served by very helpful and happy staff. The chef and his team did a really good job. Our excellent plus vote goes to Simon, the manager, who was always present, helping his staff and talking to the quests. Thanks to everyone. Happy New Year.

Excellent Relaxing Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. We upgraded to the best room in the hotel - spacious with four poster bed, wide balcony with marvellous views - well worth the extra £100. All the staff were cheerful and helpful. Food was not up to the expected standard - usually not warm enough and with vegetables overcooked or kept ready too long. Our lady coach driver, exceptionally good and considerate, in a stormy gale, with floods and fallen trees reversed 1/2 mile with ease. Thank you all.

Imperial Review

This hotel is in a great location with fantastic views. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. We had a standard room which was pretty much as we expected, nice size but a bit tired. The bathroom was not good at all. We were expecting a shower over bath at least but only a bath. We asked to be moved to a room with shower but hotel full. Simon the manager did his very best to get us moved which we did on our last night. We would not of booked this hotel if we knew it only had a bath.

Imperial Review

Just returned from a short break with friends from The Imperial at Tenby. Location was great and ideal for coastal walking. Stayed in the standard room which was comfortable although there was damp evident on the upper wall near the window which did not close properly. I was disappointed with the main evening meals. No Yorkshire Puddings left with the Sunday Roast, they had also run out of hash browns Sunday Morning and the tea and coffee was cold each evening which was left in flasks.

Excellent Value For Money

Great location in the Heart of Tenby overlooking Caldy Island and South Beach. Stayed in Sea View Premier Room. Had comfortable four poster bed, seating area, flat screen TV and spacious bathroom with bath and separate power shower and balcony with amazing sea views. Dining room overlooked the ocean and food was beautiful with good menu choice. All staff polite and professional. Angela, Angelique and Sophie on reception went out of their way to make sure our stay was most enjoyable. An overall enjoyable stay.

Thanks

Many thanks to the Management and staff of the Imperial. My husband was suddenly taken ill on the last day of our stay and even though we had just checked out the staff took the time to arrange that our luggage was stored while I accompanied my husband to hospital. On my return they had arranged for a complimentary room for me for that night. Their kindness and care made a stressful situation much easier to cope with.

OK Stay

We returned from our trip on 6th April, having booked a premier room with sea view for four nights. Parking in Tenby is difficult and we paid £20 to park at the Rectory field’s car park. Getting one large case to our room was difficult, going up in the lift meant we then had to go down steep stairs. There are a lot of elderly people staying at the hotel, that is not a problem, but I did wonder how they got their cases to their room, I struggled and I am in my mid forties! Our room was lovely and big, and had a balcony we could sit on, although the cheap garden bench was in danger of breaking. There was a patio area outside/below which was overgrown with weeds and had broken tiles, and an unloved looking wooden staircase, this was also visible from the upper bar area. Inside the room the four poster bed looked promising, although closer examination revealed very weak loose joints, not good for a romantic week away! The bathroom was nice, but had blackening in the grout and sealant in the shower cubicle. In the bedroom there was a hairgrip on the carpet and excessive dust build-up next to skirting boards/corners. The floor was incredibly bouncy, and baby upstairs made its presence felt, though I wear earplugs when away, so not too much of a problem. Overall we liked the room. I echo other's comments about helpful staff, and the good but basic menu. We did not pay extra for Steak as I felt the premium was too high. I was interested to read of the other reviewers sickness, as I was forced to use both toilet and adjacent bath at the same time just after midnight one night! You may be surprised that we did actually like our stay, I will send my comments to the hotel.

What a truly amazing hotel

This was a belated birthday stay. From the moment we arrived we were delighted! Sophie on reception was helpful and pleasant and when we arrived in our room we were greeted by a room practically the size of our downstairs at home, with a private balcony overlooking the beach and stunning views of St Catherine's and Caldy Island. We had a very large bathroom with a super power shower and bath. The four poster bed was huge and comfortable. We also had a sofa, coffee table and a dressing table.

We had a problem at home during our stay the help we were given by the reception staff was wonderful. I would defiantly recommend this hotel. My sincere thanks to all the staff.

New Year Break

Have just come back from a New Year's 3 day break. The staff were fantastic very helpful and polite, the food you couldn't fault it was fabulous, and the entertainer Ian on New Year’s Eve was brilliant!!! My only gripe was our room it was very dated and the windows need replacing as they didn't shut properly, the bathroom needs attention as well.

Praise and Thanks

We recently had a short break holiday at the Imperial. We were given room 41, a very pleasant room with a view over the town, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The dining room, with lovely sea views, and bar were well organised and the food was excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Angelique, Sophie and Phil, when my wife had an accident in the street and broke her arm. We shall be more than happy to recommend the Imperial to any future guests.

Our room was very big, clean and with a view to remember! The views from the hotel dining room are wonderful. The staff are very friendly, caring and obliging. Phoebe 8, Izzy 6, Nanny 100 all say see you soon!! Tenby and the surrounding beaches are magical. With or without Harry Potter!!! Thank you again. Vicky Cook and family. From North Wales. X

Lovely Wekend Break

Just returned from a lovely weekend in Tenby, 10 of us stayed at The Imperial and had a fabulous time... Our room was great, it was a lot bigger than the rest of our friends & our view was outstanding, huge window which enabled us to see the Sea from our bed. I think the Hotel has just undergone a refurbishment, Bars, lounge Restaurant are lovely, really can’t say anything negative about it. Staff very helpful - Thank you to Roma for putting up with our endless requests for extra Toast... :-)
