The impressive baronial style of the Invercauld Arms is set against the stunning backdrop of the Grampian Mountains. The first Saturday of every September is the world famous Braemar Royal Highland Gathering, held at the Duke of Fife Memorial Park at the other end of the village and attended annually by the Queen and several members of the Royal family. The Park is open all year round for viewing. Balmoral Castle is 9 miles east, where the Queen is in residence every August. The village of Braemar has two castles, Braemar Castle built by the Earl of Mar in 1628 and Kindrochit Castle, built by King Malcolm III. Braemar Castle looks like a fairytale castle and has a star-shaped defence wall. It is currently open during the summer months and has been restored by the Local Community Council. Kindrochit Castle was once named Ceann-drochit and is actually the ruins of ancient fortifications built between 1057 and 1093.
The Castle view Restaurant with its impressive windows and wood panelling adds to the character of the hotel and makes for an informal dining experience with us. The Rebel Lounge comes alive most evenings with our talented entertainers offering a relaxed style of entertainment for you to enjoy. In the winter months there is a traditional coal and log fire burning in the front lounge providing a warm welcome for weary travellers. The intimate atmosphere of our Slante Bar provides a very cosy and relaxed setting for unwinding at the end of the day.
The Invercauld Arms is ideal for those looking to partake in outdoor activities, explore the Highlands or just relax and enjoy the unrivalled world famous Scottish hospitality.

Invercauld Arms Hotel in Braemar. Situated in the heart of Royal Deeside. With the Grampian Mountains, spectacular untouched woodland scenery, historic castles and distilleries all nearby, there is so much to do you will be spoilt for choice!
At The Invercauld Arms Hotel we have a number of cars parks providing plenty of parking for all our guests.
There are many walks in the surrounding area of varying levels of difficulty from an easy walk round the Clunie river to the Lairig Ghru, a high steep sided pass connecting the North of the Cairngorms to the South - not one for the fainthearted!
What may appear at first to some as a small sleepy highland village soon reveals itself to be a beautiful area rich in history and wild life with much to see and do in the immediate vicinity as well as the surrounding areas. We are 60 miles from the City of Aberdeen which in recent years has become the oil centre of Europe undergoing many changes and much updating. The village of Ballater is 17 miles away and is just one of the many villages on Royal Deeside which are just waiting for you to explore and enjoy them!

Returned on Friday from a lovely holiday with my husband. Very happy with our room, plenty of helpful staff on duty. Good food & choice of menu. One thing that upset me was the gold necklace with a jade cross on it. When I arrived home & was sorting out presents for the family, from carrier bags, at the bottom of one plastic carrier bag I found my necklace. Thank the Lord my necklace had fallen off into one of the bag of presents. Thank the staff for their help & concern.

A hotel with a history as fine as its facade. Stay a night en passant and be looked after, but stay a few days and try to meet Carlos (the manager, who will usually be found helping out if any team is a bit short) and Chef, and Maitre d' (there are two - one has a moustache: the other hasn't.) In the dining-room you will receive five-star attention from young waiters trained by Maitre d'. Do look at your waiting staff as they work. It's like watching ballet. Waiting is a profession, not a job.

Back home, wishing we were still at Invercauld, very helpful, pleasant staff. Rooms: comfortable and clean. Food: super varied menu served by friendly but very professional waiters. We were a party of eight who have a Shearings holiday every October and we have never had to complain about anything in any of the Shearings hotels throughout Scotland. We haven't decided which hotel will have the pleasure of the eight of us next year!!!!
