The hotel has that classic “Bath look” - old traditional Bath stone, tall and elegant with beautiful high ceilings and elegant plaster work. The hotel is in a magnificent location, just 15 minutes walk from the historic city centre. In 1860, the Times described it as “one of the most delightful houses in Bath”. It is thought to be one of the oldest buildings in the city and is grade 2 listed, but we do have all the amenities you would expect from a modern hotel.
Our lovely conservatory restaurant, overlooking the gardens is a perfect setting for lunch and dinner. Whilst we would love you to eat with us every night, the restaurants in the city are excellent and any member of staff will be happy to help you with recommendations. The Hotel has 3 floors with 56 bedrooms.
The city, is a 15 minute walk, downhill or a 5 minute taxi ride, if you prefer!

Designed by John Wood the Younger in 1769, the Assembly Rooms were at the heart of fashionable Georgian society, and were the perfect venue for entertainment and socialising. Bombed in 1942, they were subsequently restored and now visitors can fully appreciate the magnificent rooms. The Assembly Rooms are now let to Bath & North East Somerset Council, which has its Fashion Museum on the lower ground floor.

One of only four Palladian bridges in the world can be crossed at Prior Park, which was created in the 18th century by local entrepreneur Ralph Allen, with advice from 'Capability' Brown and the poet Alexander Pope. The garden is set in a sweeping valley where visitors can enjoy magnificent views of Bath. Recent restoration of the 'Wilderness' has reinstated the Serpentine Lake, Cascade and Cabinet. A five-minute walk leads to the Bath Skyline, a six-mile circular route encompassing beautiful woodlands and meadows, an Iron Age hill fort, Roman settlements, 18th-century follies and spectacular views.

The manor house, altered in the 17th century, has splendid late Gothic and Jacobean windows and ornate plasterwork. It contains a fine collection of exceptional period furniture, 17th- and 18th-century tapestries and needlework, as well as a number of important stringed musical instruments. Attractive views can be enjoyed from the modern topiary garden.

A fine example of a medieval manor, complete with an upper moat, gatehouse and small parish church. Beautiful oriel windows and rooftop soldiers (c.1480) adorn the house, restored between 1905 and 1911 by Major R. Fuller – whose family still live here and manage the property on behalf of the Trust. The delightful gardens were designed by Alfred Parsons and feature terraces, gazebo and lily pond. Grass paths offer visitors romantic views across the spring-fed fishpond. The house and gardens have featured in many TV and film productions, including Persuasion and The Other Boleyn Girl.

Mum and I have had a lovely 4 night stay at the hotel. All of the staff were exceptional in their helpfulness and above all their pleasing manner, from the moment we entered the reception. The choice of menu for breakfast and the evening meal made dining a pleasure. Although our bedroom was a little faded it was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We will highly recommend the hotel for its location, services and good value for money.

My friend & I had a most comfortable stay at the hotel; our room was very spacious & clean, (although a little TLC. would help) & being on the 3rd floor had a good view. The rest of the hotel was well appointed, & the very helpful staff were a credit. We enjoyed the choice of meals each night - especially the roast beef! Comfortable lounges were a good spot for a game of scrabble in the evenings. We will definitely return again.

The hotel is very elegant and staff very pleasant. Only a short walk to the town and baths. The rooms are well sized but looking tired and need a facelift. Overall very happy with our stay.

Today 15 of my female friends joined me for a celebratory afternoon tea. The room was nicely set out as I had requested and the food was superb. We enjoyed spectacular strawberry tarts and the chocolate gateau was to die for. We were served by two discreetly attentive waiters. The success of the occasion no doubt benefited from the helpful suggestions of the 2 assistant managers with whom I planned the event. A group of us now plan to return to sample the evening menu.

We have had one of the most comfortable and elegant holidays I can remember. Our room was spacious and extremely pleasant. great shower! The hotel is on a B road out of the city but after 11.00 pm all is quiet. We slept well. The food was wonderful. Loved the homemade soups. A crème Brule to die for. Wonderful front of house staff and really excellent well trained waiting staff. Thank you to the courteous barman .We are already planning to come again. Thank you.

We would like to say how much we enjoyed our weekend stay at the Lansdown Grove Hotel in Bath. It was a small celebration for our Golden Wedding. We asked for a room at the front of the hotel and were given a lovely room at the front on the third floor with wonderful views of Bath. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were always greeted with a smile. The food, as always at Shearings, was very good with an adequate choice of dishes. Thank you Shearings for a very enjoyable weekend.

I chose to stay at the Lansdown Grove for my birthday in May having stayed before between Christmas & New Year. I love the location even if it is on the hill as I love the Georgian building and its large rooms and it's not too far out of the busy centre. The conservatory dining room is light and the food and service excellent. The rooms I had on both occasions were clean and of a good standard. This time I even had a patio with patio table and chairs to enjoy the sun. Highly recommended.

I stayed at the Lansdown Grove in May with a large group of friends, we had a superb weekend, the hotel was clean and comfortable, the meals delicious and the service excellent. Yes, there are long rambling corridors and lots of stairs here and there, but it is after all a grand old Victorian building! There are good direction signs everywhere and a good lift. I recommend this hotel and we will definitely visit again.
