What makes your ideal break? Beautiful countryside? Great shopping? World famous attractions? Wonderful beaches? You can have it all in this part of the country. And our hotels in Bath and Somerset give you the perfect base from which to make the most of it. Get out there!
It’s not possible to visit Bath without being hugely impressed by the architecture. This gorgeous Georgian city is bursting with beautiful buildings. In fact, Bath’s architectural history is a large part of the reason the entire city has been designated a World Heritage Site. You’ll soon see why as you explore the streets of the city centre. Our hotel in Bath, The Lansdown Grove, is a stunning Grade II Listed building. It opened in 1888 and is thought to be one of the oldest hotels in the city. We also have a hotel in the historic seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, right on the seafront. Which will you choose?
You certainly won’t be short of great things to see and do when you visit this part of the country. If you love the feeling of sand between your toes, head for Weston-super-Mare. This historic seaside resort has a beautiful, curved beach that will give you a taste of a traditional British seaside holiday. That means you can expect deckchairs, donkey rides and ice cream. Punch and Judy might even make an appearance! Or simply enjoy a little splash in the sea.
For a dip of a different kind, head below ground to the famed Roman Baths in Bath. This historic hotspot for public bathing in the Roman times is beautifully preserved and attracts over one million visitors every year. Just across the road is the towering presence of Bath Abbey, which is well worth a look. It’s a truly stunning building.
Fancy something different? No problem. Our hotels in Bath and Somerset are perfectly located for visiting the nearby city of Bristol, which is just a short journey away by car or train. Say hello to the friendly creatures at Bristol Zoo or enjoy a little retail therapy at the fantastic, newly developed Cabot Circus, where you’ll find flagship stores from the biggest names on the high street.
If it’s freedom you crave, then head for the hills (or the moors to be more precise!). The epic peaks and beautiful rural vistas of Exmoor are within easy reach by car. Explore Cheddar Gorge, climb the legendary Glastonbury Tor or scale Exmoor’s Dunkery Beacon – the highest point in the south west and the setting for Lorna Doone, Richard Blackmore’s famous novel. Don’t forget your camera.
