The Lake District

The Lake District, of course, is famous for its spectacular scenery. Stunning rural vistas of undulating green hills and towering fells stretch out to the horizon, with serene lakes providing mirror-like reflections of the bucolic beauty. For fans of the great outdoors it doesn’t get any better. And when you return to one of our hotels in The Lake District, we’ll be there to help you rest, recover and reenergize in the comfort you’d expect.

While the scenery in The Lake District is undeniably special, your holiday doesn’t have to be all about hiking or cycling. You don’t even have to bring your walking boots if you don’t want to. There are plenty of other things to see and do and our hotels in The Lake District are perfectly placed for you to explore it all.

Do the names Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-duck and Mrs Tiggy-winkle mean anything to you? If so then a visit to The World Of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windemere is a must. The attraction retells all 23 of Beatrix Potter’s tales, which are brought to life in a charming indoor recreation of the Lakeland countryside. It’s a super-fun journey through the life and work of the famous children’s author. Kids love it. And the good news for you is that it’s equally popular with big kids too.

If you’re bowled over by botanical beauty then a trip to Holehird Gardens is in order too. The 17 acre hillside gardens include a stunning variety of trees and shrubs, extensive rock and heather gardens, a walled garden, alpine houses and herbaceous borders. All against the incredible backdrop of The Lake District. The vibrant colours and wonderful fragrances are a true treat for the senses. Breathe it in!

Prefer something to get the blood pumping? No problem! Just visit Keswick Adventure Centre. It has a fantastic reputation and is the place to go for everything from white water tubing and canoeing to ghyll scrambling and abseiling. After that, what better way to wind down than by taking in a production at Theatre By The Lake, a new multi-stage theatre with professional performers and fantastic sound. Enjoy!
