Hotel on The South Coast

Fan of the sand between your toes? Then a trip to Bournemouth is in order! Their seven mile stretch of golden sands has won numerous awards. You’ll find a variety of shops, restaurants and too. And the scenery is spectacular. What else would you expect? Bournemouth sits right on the edge of the Jurassic Coast, a 95-mile section of unspoilt coastline and one of the UK’s designated World Heritage Sites.

Bournemouth’s renowned seven mile stretch of beaches runs from Hengistbury Head in the east to Sandbanks, near Poole, in the west. Sandbanks is famed for its coastal beauty and has become something of a hotspot for the rich and famous. So keep your eyes peeled while you’re strolling along the beach with your ice cream. You never know who you might spot.

If you’re looking for a leisurely way to see the Bournemouth seafront, then try the pier to pier walk. This gentle one mile walk along the promenade from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier is a great way to take in the sights and sounds of the seaside. And there are plenty of places to stop for a cup of tea and a slice of cake too. Lovely.

But if you’re a serious walking fan then a journey to the Jurassic Coast is a must. This World Heritage Site stretches from Old Harry Rocks in Dorset to Orcombe Point in East Devon and is regarded as the most geologically diverse coastline in the world. Experts love exploring the exposed cliff sections, which offer an insight into a 185 million year old landscape. All that complex geology makes for some spectacular scenery. Just to the west of Bournemouth are the beautiful chalk cliffs at Studland Bay. And a real visual treat awaits a little further to the west at Old Harry Rocks, a certified Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s believed that these magnificent chalk stacks were once connected to The Needles on The Isle of Wight. It’s not hard to see why.
