There's plenty to see and do
Whatever you want from your short break or holiday, you’re sure to find it in Wales. There are little mining villages, towering mountains with some of the world’s best walking trails and cities where you’ll find theatres, entertainment venues and all sorts of tourist attractions. Wales is home to more than 500 dramatic castles, and to secluded sandy beaches as well as those lovely seaside resorts that offer a nostalgic reminder of childhood holidays and have changed very little for almost 200 years.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re visiting for a weekend getaway, a memorable honeymoon or a family holiday, you’ll find that there are so many things to do. You’ll want to fill dozens of photo albums with pictures of the breathtakingly beautiful scenes that you see on your travels, and you’ll have so many stories to tell. Kids can feel like real adventurers, and lovers can lie on the beach as the sun sets and the stars light up the sky.
The city of Cardiff is a shopper’s paradise, and also offers excellent nightlife and some of the UK’s best theatres and entertainment venues. Big names perform at the Motorpoint Arena, and Cardiff Castle often doubles up as a venue for open-air concerts.
Sci-fi fans will be able to visit the Doctor Who Experience. The show, like its spin-off Torchwood, has been filmed in and around the Cardiff area for years. The Doctor Who Experience is an interactive attraction where you can fly the TARDIS, fight the Doctor’s enemies and see costumes and props that have been used in the TV show.
Book a city break, a visit to the country or a holiday by the coast. Enjoy the colours of the National Botanic Garden of Wales, or take a look at the tigers at the Welsh Mountain Zoo. Climb Snowdon, or enjoy a ride to the top on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. Treat yourself to a spa day, or tour the wonderful and mysterious locations used in films and TV shows including the Harry Potter movies, BBC’s Merlin, the Bond movie Die Another Day and the comedy TV series Gavin and Stacey.
Each morning, wake to a new day of endless possibilities and fill your day with anything from white-water rafting to a tour of a Welsh mine, a walk through a show cave or voyage through King Arthur’s Labyrinth.
