Visit Devon

There's plenty to see and do

From long, golden beaches stretching out for miles to breathtaking open spaces offering green fields as far as the eye can see, Devon offers something for all. It has impressive historic buildings including Buckfast Abbey and Dartmouth Castle, and it’s home to thrilling family attractions including the Crealy Adventure Park, the Milky Way Adventure Park and the Woodlands Family Theme Park. The Exmoor National Park is partly in Devon, and partly in Somerset. Walkers can stay in Devon to explore some truly spectacular surroundings. Animal attractions include the UK’s largest aquarium and family favourite Exmoor Zoo, whilst the Miniature Pony Centre makes for a very interesting day out.
Explore the region’s wonderful restaurants and cafés, where you can savour local specialities including Devon cream teas, fudge and real Devonshire ice cream, or visit for one of the many festivals and events including the month-long North Devon Festival or the Devon County Show. Whether you’re staying for a fortnight or just for a weekend, you’ll find plenty of things to do.
Rides on the Seaton Tramway are an unforgettable experience, and Devon’s beaches are some of the most pristine and popular. The county is known for its sunshine and warm weather, so it’s no wonder that the clear seas tempt so many visitors each year. Yet, if relaxation isn’t your thing, you can spend your days swimming at Britain’s largest water park or exploring the dungeons of Watermouth Castle. Shop until you drop at one of the county’s large shopping centres, or visit the Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre to ride fairground rides of a bygone era.
From Babbacombe’s model village to the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where kids can enjoy zookeeper experiences and swim with sea lions, Devon’s attractions are there to create lasting memories for you and your loved ones. You can take home photographs of the remarkable Durdle Door, laugh at your friends as they test their skills on the Plymouth Ski Slope, or shop for Dartington Crystal. When you get home from your holiday, everyone will have their own story to tell.
