A warm welcome to The Portpatrick Hotel...

Our location set above the quaint and beautiful little fishing village of Portpatrick in a peaceful and unspoilt corner of Southern Scotland is very special. No one who visits us says anything other than “ Pictures can’t do justice to this view” – it’s just beautiful. The village itself is small, friendly and lovely for an early evening stroll – just a great way to relax.

We are blessed with having some beautiful gardens around the hotel with Logan Botanic Gardens and Culzean Castle being the best known but there are lots more. The Mull of Galloway is another great spot, with views across to England, Ireland and the Isle of Man all from one location.

The area is a haven for lovers of sports and the outdoors. You’ll also find a variety of wonderful opportunities for birdwatching and fishing.

Local Insight

With our location it was never a hard decision to take the job as General Manager here at Portpatrick 12 years ago. All those years on, the place is still as magical and the views just as unspoilt. The majority of our guests come to stay with us simply to relax and we hope, with our long serving staff offering the very best of Scottish hospitality and our location, you will add to our list of regulars.

Sporty guests are pleased with our choice of golf courses. My personal favourite is the Portpatrick and for the more challenging Turnberry, home to the 2009 Open, is just an hour away.

My stay at The Portpatrick Hotel...

not value for money

The hotel is beautiful,in a lovely position on the hillside.Though i do not think shearings give value for the money. We were charged extra for a sea view, then charged extra for a larger room, as the first room was ouite small. So this self drive holiday, cost an extra £80.While the people on the coach, had paid exactly the same starting price for the holiday,as the people on self drive. Also the meals in the evening were nothing special.I feel we were charged to much.
