Lakelands & the North West Coast
On a holiday to the Lake District you will be captivated by the beauty of the Lake District, explored from our base at Windermere, a town which spreads down the hillside to join the village of Bowness by the shores of Lake Windermere. With beautiful scenery there’s plenty to enjoy. The Lake District is England’s largest National Park and is surrounded by miles of outstanding coastline. The Lakelands are also famous for being the inspiration for many painters, authors and adventurers. Close to the rolling hills of the Lake District lies Morecambe, a traditional Lancashire seaside town with so much to offer. See the Eric Morecambe statue whilst strolling down the long promenade and enjoy fabulous views across the bay to the Lake District.
One of the main centres of activity in the North West is Blackpool. Britain’s biggest and most popular seaside resort. Famous for the Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Tower and the Promenade amongst other well known attractions, the town has been a popular holiday destination since the 19th Century. South from Blackpool lies the popular resort of Lytham St. Anne’s, enjoying a gentler pace than its lively neighbour. Other famous coastal resorts in the area include Southport which retains an air of Victorian elegance and has plenty to offer visitors, with its pavement cafés, tree-lined boulevards and floral displays and is an excellent location for exploring Merseyside and Lancashire.
With a fantastic choice of coast and countryside locations, a holiday with Shearings to the Lakelands and North West Coast gives you the opportunity to see so much of this diverse region on one of our escorted tours.
